Inquiry into Childhood Obesity

Evidence from : British Dental Association Wales

The British Dental Association does not wish to submit detailed evidence to the committee but would just like to refer them to the responses made to the Healthy Eating in Schools regulations consultation in which we made the point that it is very difficult to control a child’s nutrition if it is not being provided by the school.

There should be some discouragement of fast food outlets in close proximity to schools.

Social and sporting activities / clubs should not be providing high calorific value drinks routinely – as they also damage teeth!
